Halvergate Parish Council

We are so very sorry to hear of the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II today, Thursday 8th September.

Please be informed that there will be a book of Condolence at Halvergate Church from 5.00pm on Friday 9th September to 5.00pm Monday 19th September.  

There will be loose leaves for you to either fill in with your message of condolence in the church, or for you to take away and complete at home, to return to the church later.  These will be collected together and bound into a leather Condolence Book which will eventually be given to the Norfolk Records Office for historical archiving.

We are writing to invite you and the residents of Halvergate Parish to take part in a survey on how you feel about tourism in your area.

The survey is part of the Norfolk County Council EXPERIENCE project and is about Winter  tourism. It will be carried out every six months over a 3-year period, focussing on winter and summer tourism alternately, you may have seen the previous one issued in September about Summer tourism.

• The results will be used to tailor the activities of the project and to better understand the benefits and disadvantages of tourism for local people.
• Anyone who is over 18 and a resident in Norfolk can take part.
• There’s a prize draw for £40 of Jarrold vouchers for participants (excluding employees of Norfolk County Council and their families, and anyone involved in the prize draw).
• The survey closes at midnight on Friday 1^st April.

that if we receive any consultation responses after this date we cannot guarantee

POLICE ARE URGING PUBLIC TO INCREASE THEIR VIGILANCE AROUND HOME AND VEHICLE SECURITY

Police are urging the public to increase their vigilance around home and vehicle security with the darker nights. To prevent the seasonal increase in burglaries and theft from motor vehicles, householders and motorists are asked to follow some simple crime prevention advice to keep their property safe. Residents should avoid leaving their homes unlit in the evenings for example, as a house in darkness is more likely to attract the attention of burglars. Vehicles should also ideally be parked in a well-lit and secure place. Making sure windows and doors are locked can be a deterrent for an intruder, as well as keeping valuables out of sight and away from letterboxes – or anywhere else that is easily accessible Many burglaries are opportunistic crimes, where offender has identified an open window or insecure door and easily let themselves into your home. Those that live in an area previously targeted by thieves or those that are planning to increase their home security could consider installing smart technology such as a doorbell camera. f you notice any suspicious activity or believe a crime to be in progress you are asked to call the police immediately on 999.
