Important roadworks information

A47 eastbound, Trowse Newton entry slip – urgent resurfacing 

I’m writing to tell you that we plan to carry out urgent resurfacing work on the A47 eastbound at Trowse Newton on the entry slip road. Once complete, drivers should benefit from a safer and better-defined road surface.

We plan to complete this work over one night on Wednesday 23 September 2026. We will work between 8pm and 6am, weather permitting. 

Closures and diversions 

To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the A47 eastbound Trowse Newton entry slip road, and divert traffic as follows: 

• Traffic should join the A47 westbound and exit at the next junction for the A140 Ipswich Road interchange. 

• At the interchange roundabout take the sixth exit to rejoin the A47 eastbound back towards Trowse Newton. 

• Continue your journey on the A47 eastbound. 

  

Please note that emergency vehicles will have access through the works but with caution.

Notice of vacancy in the office of Councillor

for Halvergate Parish Council

I must give notice, under Section 87(2) of the Local Government Act 1972, that a vacancy exists in the office of Parish Councillor for the Halvergate parish area. The vacancy has arisen due to the resignation of John Collins.

For a by-election to be held to fill the vacancy, a request by ten registered local government electors in Halvergate parish area must be made, not later than 23/09/2026 to: The Returning Officer, Broadland District Council, Horizon Business Centre, Peachman Way, Broadland Business Park, Norwich, NR7 0WF.

On receipt of a valid request, the Returning Officer will set the date of an election to be held within 60 days of this notice (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays), in accordance with Rule 5 of the Local Elections (Parishes and Communities) (England and Wales) Rules 2006.

If an election is not requested, the Parish Council will co-opt a person to fill the vacancy as soon as practicable.

We plan to complete this work over two nights, starting on Monday 17 August 2026. We will work between 8pm and 6am, weather permitting.

Closures and diversions

To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the A14 eastbound Postwick Interchange exit slip road, and divert traffic as follows:

• Continue Eastbound: Stay on the A47 eastbound past the closed Postwick Interchange exit.

• Reach Roundabout: Drive ahead to the Brundall Cucumber Lane Roundabout.

• Turn Around: At the roundabout take the exit to rejoin the A47 westbound.

• Exit at Destination: Travel back towards Postwick Interchange on the A47 westbound to reach your exit and continue your journey.

Please note that there will be no emergency vehicle access through the road during the work.
