  • NOTICE OF CASUAL VACANCY

    Notice of vacancy in the office of Councillor for Halvergate Parish Council

    I must give notice, under Section 87(2) of the Local Government Act 1972, that a vacancy exists in the office of Parish Councillor for the Halvergate parish area. The vacancy has arisen due to the resignation of Robert More.

    For a by-election to be held to fill the vacancy, a request by ten registered local government electors in Halvergate parish area must be made, not later than 03/06/2026 to: The Returning Officer, Broadland District Council, Horizon Business Centre, Peachman Way, Broadland Business Park, Norwich, NR7 0WF.

    On receipt of a valid request, the Returning Officer will set the date of an election to be held within 60 days of this notice (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays), in accordance with Rule 5 of the Local Elections (Parishes and Communities) (England and Wales) Rules 2006.

    If an election is not requested, the Parish Council will co-opt a person to fill the vacancy as soon as practicable.

    (Return of Halvergate Cyclists around the world Cycle)

    Temporary Traffic Regulation Order 2026 – Notice 

    Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“RTRA 1984”)  as amended by the Road Traffic Regulation (Special Events) Act 1994

    Norfolk County Council, hereby give notice that to facilitate the Return of Halvergate Cyclists around the world Cycle, they intend to make an Order under Section 16A of the RTRA 1984 and all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to temporarily restrict/prohibit vehicular traffic on the:

    1. U59421 The Street from the junction of the C434 Sandhole Lane to the junction of the U59386 Wickhampton Road in the Parish of Halvergate.

    The Order shall be in effect (in force) on 2 May 2026 and or until the restrictions are no longer necessary, whichever is the earliest. The roads will be temporarily restricted (except for emergency and pedestrian access) for the duration of the Return of Halvergate Cyclists around the world Cycle which is anticipated to be between 2pm and 3pm. The restrictions specified will only have effect at such times and to such extent as indicated by the display of on-site signs.

    The promoter of the event is Halvergate Parish Council.

    A person who contravenes, or who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of, a restriction or prohibition imposed by this Order shall be guilty of an offence.
